"Seek first to understand, then to be understood" - Habit #5 Steven Covey
To someone on a spiritual life path, the word "understanding" might suggest the importance of understanding one's Self. Many of us have spent years searching for a deeper realization of who we really are. We all want to connect with the True Self that lies within.
But after all the books, workshops, self study, and meditation, what good is an understanding of one's True Self, if we cannot bridge the gap between that True Self and the True Self of another. In the end, learning in isolation merely leads to an accumulation of information; it is only through relationship that we can experience real understanding.
So could it be that the final frontier for us as spiritual seekers is not the understanding the Self but rather the removal of the sense of separation from others through the power of understanding?
